Türkiye's daily power consumption up 18% on Dec. 15

- Electricity exports amount to 9,493 megawatt-hours and imports total 626 megawatt-hours

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased around 18% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,010,343 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 49,745 megawatt-hours at 6 p.m. local time (1500 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,474 megawatt-hours at 5 a.m. local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,019,222 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an increase of 17.5% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants accounted for around 26.1% of total generation, while imported coal and wind plants contributed 21.8% and 12.3%, respectively.

On Monday, the country's electricity exports totaled 9,493 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 626 megawatt-hours.
