Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 4% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 908,659 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Sunday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 42,508 megawatt-hours at 12 p.m. local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,148 megawatt-hours at 7 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 914,891 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a fall of about 3.7% compared to the previous day.
Electricity production from dam-based hydro plants accounted for around 32.1% of total generation, while solar and natural gas contributed 17.6% and 11.5%, respectively.
Daily electricity generation from solar energy in Türkiye reached its highest level of the year on May 16, at 160,800 megawatt-hours. The previous highest level of solar-powered electricity generation this year was recorded on May 13 at 159,592 megawatt-hours.
On Saturday, the country's electricity exports totaled 10,393 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 3,776 megawatt-hours.
