Turkiye's daily power consumption down 37% on Jan. 21

- Electricity exports amount to 11,370 megawatt-hours and imports total 12,427 megawatt-hours

Daily electricity consumption in Turkiye decreased by 37.7% on Friday compared to the previous day, totaling 985,218 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 48,610 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,375 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 984,280 megawatt-hours on Friday, marking a 1.5% decrease compared to Thursday.

Electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 22.3% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 19.2% while hydro plants comprised 15.7%.

On Friday, the country's electricity exports amounted to 11,370 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 12,427 megawatt-hours.
