Turkey's electricity consumption increased by 8.37% in September compared to the same month of 2019, according to data released by Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Ministry.
The country's power consumption reached 26.14 billion kilowatt-hours last month while electricity production also increased by 8.88% to 26.31 billion kilowatt-hours compared to August 2019.
Out of September's total production, hydro plants generated 21.11% while 30.46% was derived from natural gas and 22.06% from imported coal.
The share of local coal plants in electricity generation was 13.96%. Wind plants generated 7.91% and the remaining 4.5% came from geothermal, fuel oil and biogas plants.
Last month, Turkey's electricity imports from neighboring countries decreased by 59.10% to 52.79 million kilowatt-hours compared to 129.09 million kilowatt-hours in September 2019.
Electricity exports increased by 30.08% to 218.58 million kilowatt-hours.
Turkey's total installed power capacity reached 93.02 gigawatts at the end of August 2020, according to official figures.
