Turkey's daily power consumption up 6.9% on Jan. 4

- Electricity exports amount to 13,604 megawatt-hours and imports total 16,894 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 6.9% on Tuesday compared to the previous day, totaling 945,939 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 45,604 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 31,153 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 946,453 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, marking an 3.8% increase compared to Monday.

Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 31.7% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 20.9% while lignite plants comprised 14.6%.

On Tuesday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 13,604 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 16,894 megawatt-hours.
