Turkey's daily power consumption up 4.77 % on May 20

- Electricity exports amount to 8,217 megawatt-hours, while imports total 4,877 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 4.77% on Thursday compared to the previous day to reach 867,374 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 15.00 local time, reaching 41,322 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 28,623 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time.

Electricity production amounted to 870,981 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a 4.712% increase from Wednesday.

Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 30.6% of total electricity consumption, hydroelectricity plants comprised 15.2%, while imported coal plants held a 12.3% share.

On Thursday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 8,217 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 4,877 megawatt-hours.
