Turkey's daily power consumption up 4.44% on Jan. 2

- Electricity exports amount to 4,627 megawatt-hours, while imports total 1,040 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 4.44% on Saturday compared to the previous day to reach 701,066 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time, reaching 35,002 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 25,263 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time.

Electricity production amounted to 704.653 megawatt-hours on Saturday, with an increase of 4.46% from Friday.

While Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 30.01% of total electricity consumption, imported coal held a 25.3% share while lignite plants comprised 16.3%.

On Saturday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 4,627 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 1,040 megawatt-hours.
