Turkey's daily power consumption up 18.76% on Jan. 4

- Electricity exports amount to 4,936 megawatt-hours, while imports total 3,612 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 18.76% on Monday compared to the previous day to reach 826.274 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time, reaching 40,453 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 26,760 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time.

Electricity production amounted to 827,598 megawatt-hours on Monday, with an increase of 18.71% from Sunday.

While Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 31.93% of total electricity consumption, imported coal held a 23.07% share while lignite plants comprised 14.22%.

On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 4,936 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 3,612 megawatt-hours.
