Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 15.6% on Monday compared to the previous day to reach 773,261 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 38,404 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 25,099 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time.
Electricity production reached 778,761 megawatt-hours on Monday marking a 15.8% increase compared to the previous day.
While Turkey's electricity production from natural gas constituted 33% of total electricity consumption on Monday, imported coal plants held a 23% share while lignite plants comprised 15.4%.
On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 7,984 megawatt-hours while imports reached 2,485 megawatt-hours.
