Turkey's daily power consumption up 14% on Jan. 13

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 14% to 851,323 megawatt-hours on Monday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 41,514 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 27,089 megawatt-hours at 05.00.

Total electricity production reached 856,487 megawatt-hours on Monday with a 14.3% increase compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from natural gas plants with 259,318 megawatt-hours.

Imported coal plants and hydroelectricity followed with 209,196 megawatt-hours and 148,145 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 7,875 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 2,711 megawatt-hours.
