Turkey's daily electricity consumption rose by 13.5% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 847,422 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 40,652 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 27,208 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time (0200 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 850,649 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a 13.7% rise from Sunday.
Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 44.2% of total electricity consumption and lignite plants contributed 15.2% while hydroelectricity plants comprised 11.5%.
On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 13,549 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 10,543 megawatt-hours.
