Turkey's daily power consumption up 12.1% on March 2

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 12.1% to 789,930 megawatt-hours on Monday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 20.00 local time with 38,443 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 26,443 megawatt-hours at 04.00.

Total electricity production reached 786,403 megawatt-hours on Monday with a 12.5% increase compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from hydroelectricity plants at 197,915 megawatt-hours. Imported coal and natural gas plants followed with 185,031 megawatt-hours and 99,915 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 3,811 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 7,337 megawatt-hours.
