Turkey's daily power consumption down 6.8% on Dec. 31

- Electricity exports amount to 9,300 megawatt-hours and imports total 11,483 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 6.8% on Friday compared to the previous day, totaling 860,797 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 40,492 megawatt-hours at 10.00 local time (0700GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 30,648 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time (0200GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 885,915 megawatt-hours on Friday, marking a 5.7% decrease compared to Thursday.

Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 29.1% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 20.1% while lignite plants comprised 15.5%.

On Friday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 9,300 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 11,483 megawatt-hours.
