Turkey's daily power consumption down 16.9% on Sept. 20

- Electricity exports amount to 6,666 megawatt-hours while imports reach 578 megawatt-hours

Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 16.9% on Sunday compared to the previous day to reach 744,449 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 20.00 local time with 35,960 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 26,825 megawatt-hours at 08.00 local time.

Electricity production reached 750,536 megawatt-hours on Sunday marking a 12% decrease compared to the previous day.

While Turkey's electricity production from natural gas constituted 28.87% of total electricity consumption on Sunday, imported coal plants held a 25.69% share while wind plants comprised 13.80%.

On Sunday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 6,666 megawatt-hours while imports reached 578 megawatt-hours.
