Turkey's daily power consumption down 15.71% on Jan. 19

- Turkey's electricity exports total 8,002 megawatt-hours, while imports amount to 4,551 megawatt-hours on Sunday

Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 15.71% to 746,311 megawatt-hours on Sunday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 36,121 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 27,469 megawatt-hours at 05.00.

Total electricity production reached 749,752 megawatt-hours on Sunday with a 10.64% decrease compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from imported coal plants at 210,271 megawatt-hours.

Natural gas plants and hydroelectricity plants followed with 176,809 megawatt-hours and 100,524 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Sunday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 8,002 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 4,551 megawatt-hours.
