Turkey's daily power consumption down 15.6% on Jan. 1

- Electricity exports amount to 5,718 megawatt-hours, while imports total 2,392 megawatt-hours

​​​​​Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 15.6% on Friday compared to the previous day to reach 671,215 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time, reaching 33,359 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 24,487 megawatt-hours at 09.00 local time.

Electricity production amounted to 674,541 megawatt-hours on Friday, with a decrease of 16.09% from Thursday.

While Turkey's electricity production from imported coal constituted 25.6% of total electricity consumption, natural gas plants held a 22.8% share while lignite plants comprised 17.5%.

On Friday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 5,718 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 2,392 megawatt-hours.
