Turkey's daily power consumption down 14.3% on Jan. 1

- Turkey's electricity exports total 6,589 megawatt-hours, while imports amount to 11,203 megawatt-hours on Monday

Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 14.3% to 683,38 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Thursday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 34,588 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 23,491 megawatt-hours at 06.00.

Total electricity production reached 678,424 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, with a 14.2% decrease compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from imported coal plants with 174,770 megawatt-hours.

Lignite and natural gas plants followed with 118,243 megawatt-hours and 114,633 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Wednesday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 6,589 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 11,203 megawatt-hours.
