Turkey's daily power consumption down 11.9% on Feb. 23

- Turkey's electricity exports amount to 7,574 megawatt-hours, while imports total 12,323 megawatt-hours on Sunday

Turkey's daily electricity consumption decreased by 11.9% to 734,295 megawatt-hours on Sunday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 20.00 local time with 35,845 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 27,203 megawatt-hours at 08.00.

Total electricity production reached 729,546 megawatt-hours on Sunday with a 12% decrease compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from hydroelectricity plants at 188,471 megawatt-hours. Coal plants and lignite plant followed with 175,483 megawatt-hours and 94,497 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Sunday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 7,574 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 12,323 megawatt-hours.
