Turkey's natural gas imports decreased by 24.4 percent in August compared to the same month last year, according to the Turkish energy watchdog's data released on Saturday.
Imports fell to 3.04 billion cubic meters (bcm) from 4.02 bcm in August 2017, Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
The country imported 2.59 bcm of natural gas via pipeline, while 0.45 bcm was purchased as LNG, EMRA's data shows.
In August, Turkey's total gas consumption decreased by 18.4 percent year-on-year to 2.93 bcm in August this year from 3.59 bcm in August 2017.
The amount of natural gas in storage increased by 12.5 percent to 3.25 bcm in August 2018 from 2.88 bcm during the same period last year.
Gas production rose to 15.3 million cubic meters (mcm) over the same period, up from 29.2 mcm in August 2017.
