Turkey's electricity production increased by 0.4% in October compared to the same month last year, according to the latest data revealed by the country's energy watchdog.
Total production increased to approximately 23,200 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), from 23,099 million kWh in October 2018, Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report for October.
Turkey produced its electricity from several resources, 26.2% from import coal, 21.2% from natural gas, and 18.5% from hydropower plants. Lignite, wind, hydropower, geothermal, hard coal, biomass, fuel oil, solar generated the remaining share.
Consumption in the industrial sector saw the biggest share at 44.3%, followed by the commercial sector with 27.6%. Residential consumption came third with 22.7% while agricultural irrigation and street lighting accounted for the remainder.
Turkey's installed electricity capacity was up 2.6% in October on a yearly basis. Natural gas power plants comprised 30.6%, while 20.6% came from hydropower plants, and 10.1% from lignite power plants.
Hard coal, hydro, wind, geothermal, fuel oil, biomass and solar power also contributed to Turkey's installed capacity.
