Daesh kills 3 in attack to key oil port

Daesh militants killed at least 3 security guards in a suicide attack to Sidra oil port in northern Libya, according to military sources.

The guards were killed following two bomb-laden vehicles were exploded, the sources loyal to the Tobruk-based government said.

Sidra is near Ras Lanouf, which is the country's major oil port and currently under control of Tobruk-based forces.

Daesh aims to grab control in the country benefitting from the power vacuum due to the war between rival sides in the country.

The Tripoli-based General National Congress and the Tobruk-based House of Representatives signed a UN-brokered agreement last month in Morocco to form a unity government, but it has not been implemented yet.

Libya has remained in a state of turmoil since a bloody uprising ended the decades-long rule of strongman Muammar Gaddafi in late 2011.
