ANKARA

Turkey's stock exchange rose slightly by 0.47 percent, or 430.47 points, to open at 92,752.30 points on Thursday.

On the fourth transaction day of the week, the banking and holding sector indices climbed 0.52 percent and 0.43 percent, respectively.

Among all sector indices, the leasing factoring sector index posted the best performance, up 1.29 percent, while the investment trusts sector index suffered worst, down 0.24 percent.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 closed at 92,321.95, up 0.76 percent, or 692.40 points, with a trade volume of 11.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped slightly to 4.8120 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, from 4.8180 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate also fell to 5.5960 in the open market -- from 5.6060 at the previous close -- while one British pound traded for 6.2810 Turkish liras versus 6.2960 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil climbed to $72.78 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Thursday, from $71.67 at the previous close.
