Sales of passenger cars, light commercial vehicles top 394,700 in 6-month period, says industry group report

Turkey's automotive market expands 55.4% in January-June

ANKARA

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey improved 55.4% year-on-year in January-June, an industry group report showed on Friday.

As many as 394,701 vehicles were sold across Turkey in the first six months of this year, the Automotive Distributors' Association (ODD) said in a statement.

Passenger cars accounted for 78.6% of the sales with 310,325 units, a 52.4% rise from the same period last year.

A total of 84,376 light commercial vehicles were sold from January to June, up 67.2% on an annual basis.

In June, the automotive market grew 12.5% compared to a year ago, reaching 79,819 units.

Passenger car sales hit 62,348 units last month, up 9.3%, while light commercial vehicles’ sales reached 17,471, rising 25.6% on an annual basis.
