The amount paid corresponds to around 45.6 million cubic meters of gas, which, according to current consumption numbers, corresponds to five days of natural gas for Ukraine, Gazprom said in an official statement.
Russia, the EU and Ukraine agreed on the terms of payment and the restart of gas exports on Oct. 30, 2014 in Brussels.
Kiev is currently is mired in a conflict in the eastern part of the country with pro-Russian separatists. Ukraine accuses Moscow of supporting the rebels, a claim it has repeatedly denied.
