The army "neutralized" two PKK terrorists in response to harassment fire on a checkpost under construction in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, the provincial governor's office said in a statement.

Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply that the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.

The terrorists, including a woman were neutralized in the Semdinli district of the southeastern Hakkari province after the terrorists fired three rockets on the post, the statement said.

Also, the Turkish General Staff said on Twitter that two more PKK terrorists were “neutralized” in an operation in Hakurk region of northern Iraq on Saturday.

In the operation, four AT-4 anti-tank weapons and eight bazookas were also confiscated.

Also, a PKK terrorist, who was trying to cross the border illegally, was held while three other armed terrorists surrendered to security forces in Nusaybin, a district of southeastern Mardin province, the message said.

In southeastern Hakkari province, two explosive devices, an improvised explosive, radio equipment, six electronic detonators and ammunition were seized during a search conducted by security forces.

Listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, the PKK has waged a wide-ranging terror campaign against the Turkish state since the mid-1980s, in which an estimated 40,000 people have been killed.
