Vietnamese President To Lam on Tuesday arrived in Beijing for a four-day maiden overseas trip since his election last week, according to China's state news agency Xinhua.
China is the first country Lam is visiting after he was unanimously elected as the state president last Tuesday for the next five years.
Lam is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping later this week.
The visit underscores the growing strategic and economic ties between Vietnam and China, two neighboring socialist states with deep political and trade connections.
Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at over $260 billion in 2024.
