The Turkish deputy parliament speaker called on Hong Kong to lift the travel warning on Turkey.
On Tuesday, Levent Gok received Yang Jianping, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.
Gok briefed Jianping on the July 15, 2016 defeated coup attempt carried out by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).
Gok said that Hong Kong had issued a travel warning on Turkey that is "incompatible with the spirit of tourism", adding that Hong Kong had also raised the warning level from yellow to red.
"[...] The coup plot that caused this warning has been completely defeated, and this [warning] has no sense anymore," he said.
Gok also called on China to close FETO schools in the country.
A record number of over 400,000 Chinese tourists will have visited Turkey in 2018.
China declared 2018 as "Turkey tourism year".
According to the Turkish government, FETO and its U.S.-based leader, Fetullah Gulen, orchestrated the defeated coup in 2016 which left 251 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.Anadolu Agency website contains only a portion of the news stories offered to subscribers in the AA News Broadcasting System (HAS), and in summarized form.
