MOSCOW

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergey Shoygu held on Tuesday consultations on strategic security with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Moscow, his office said.

The meeting started in a small, closed format and was later expanded.

The parties discussed pressing issues of international and regional security, the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, and interaction between law enforcement agencies and special services.

Announcing Wang's visit to Russia, Ma Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said the two officials planned to exchange views on regional and global strategic issues of mutual concern, as well as discuss strategic security issues for the two countries.
