China expands visa-free transit to 55 nations

Indonesian passport holders get 240-hour visa-free transit in latest decision by Beijing

ISTANBUL

China on Thursday extended its visa-free transit policy for Indonesia, expanding the benefits to 55 nations, state media reported, citing China’s National Immigration Administration.

This move brings the total number of countries eligible for China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy to 55, including countries such as Indonesia, Russia, and the United Kingdom.

Starting Thursday, Indonesian citizens with valid travel documents will be allowed to enter China through any of 60 designated ports across 24 provincial-level regions and stay for up to 240 hours (10 days) without needing a visa, provided they are en route to a third country.

On Monday, China launched a trial visa-free policy for regular passport holders from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
