ISTANBUL
Bangladesh has “a lot to learn” from Türkiye’s people-centric governance model, the country’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon said during an event in Istanbul, marking Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day on Thursday.
Swapon made the remarks while addressing members of the Bangladeshi community in Türkiye, according to a statement by the Bangladeshi Consulate in Istanbul.
He is visiting Istanbul to attend the two-day Stratcom Summit, which opened Friday.
“The new government will work for building a people-centric governance and ‘in this context, we have a lot to learn’ from Türkiye,” Swapon told Bangladeshi expats, according to the consulate statement.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, formed a new government after winning a landslide victory last month.
Swapon urged the Bangladeshi diaspora to “invest in Bangladesh, including in sectors such as education and economy.”
Highlighting various aspects of Bangladesh-Türkiye relations, he expressed hope that bilateral ties would deepen further and become more multidimensional in the future under the new government.
