A US lawmaker on Wednesday called on the Trump administration to push for an expanded ceasefire in the Middle East, warning that ongoing violence in Lebanon risks deepening the conflict and worsening the humanitarian toll.
"Lebanon must be included in this fragile ceasefire," Yassamin Ansari said on the US social media company X's platform.
Her remarks came right after Israel's strikes on Lebanon killed over 250 people.
"The horrific bombings and murder of hundreds of civilians in Beirut and elsewhere by Netanyahu need to end immediately," Ansair said, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
She urged President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance to use their influence.
The US and Iran announced a two-week truce on Tuesday aimed at paving the way for a final agreement to end a war launched by Washington and Tel Aviv against Tehran on Feb. 28, which has left thousands dead and wounded.
Although the key mediator Pakistan said the truce includes Lebanon, both the US and Israel said the ceasefire does not include Lebanon.
