US approves potential sale of tactical missiles to Norway

Proposed sale will improve Norway’s capability to meet current, future threats, says Pentagon

WASHINGTON

The US State Department approved the possible sale of AIM-9X Block II tactical missiles to Norway, the Pentagon said Friday.

The estimated cost is $370.9 million.

"The proposed sale will improve Norway’s capability to meet current and future threats by ensuring aviation forces’ interoperability with the United States and other NATO members," it said in a statement.

The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation in the state of Arizona, it added.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible sale Friday.
