DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania

Turkish business and agricultural machine producers showcased their products at a business forum in Dar es Salaam city on Friday.

The three-day forum will end on Monday.

According to Turkish Exporters Association Secretary General Ozkan Aydin, who spoke on behalf of the Turkish team, the trip is also meant to look for partners and investment opportunities in Tanzania in an effort to boost the sector.

“Machines and technology to be shown can be adopted by Tanzanian local farmers with a view to improving agricultural sector production,” Aydin said during a round table meeting with Tanzanian counterparts.

Tanzania Private Sector Foundation Membership Service Director Louis Accaro said the trip will add value to the growing agro-business sector in the country.

Jamal Mohammed from the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture said the trip of Turkish businessmen to Tanzania will help in boosting the trade volume between the two countries, which currently stands at 11 percent.

In January 2017, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Tanzania, and together with his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli witnessed the signing of several trade agreements.

“Apart from goods, Tanzania is also importing simple and easy to use machines plus technology from Turkey; this will be definitely boosted and hence increase the business volume between our countries,” Mohammed added.
