Government to prepare urban transformation law

Turkish government will prepare an Urban Transformation Law under the coordination of Environment & Urbanization Ministry.***

Government took action after eastern province of Van was hit by an earthquake measuring 7.2 on Richter scale on Sunday. The death toll is 573, and the number of injured people is 2,608 while thousands of buildings are inhabitable.
The Urban Transformation Law will be presented to Parliament by the end of year.
Also, legal infrastructure of the transformation will be completed by revising two current laws.
Property and construction laws will be renewed, while Environment & Urbanization Ministry will prepare reports about all buildings across Turkey.
Houses in high-risk quake zones will be moved.
Municipalities will be authorized to determine urban transformation zones, while Council of Ministers will be responsible for public institutions.
