(ECO) INTERNATIONAL INVESTORS THINK IMPACT OF CRISIS TO END IN 2011
ISTANBUL - A survey indicated on Wednesday that international investors thought that impact of the crisis would end in 2011.
The International Investors' Association of Turkey (YASED) carried out the results of its first Barometer survey of 2010 and said international investors thought impact of global crisis would end in 2011.
YASED carries out the survey among its members and updates the survey every six months.
According to the survey, 42 percent of international investors are planning to make new investments in the next six months and 47 percent think economic growth will speed up in Turkey.
However, investors think a local political turmoil would be the number one development that would adversely affect international direct investments.
The survey indicated that YASED members had achieved their production and turnover targets at great extent in the last six months of 2009.
Members reached their turnover targets by 53 percent, and their production targets by 55 percent in the second half of 2009.
According to the Barometer Survey, a significant 60 percent of international investors in Turkey consider that economic growth will remain stable worldwide in the next six months.
As for their expectations on Turkey's economy, 47 percent of investors consider that economic growth in Turkey will "accelerate"? during this period.
YASED Barometer Survey also makes public investors' forecasts on key economic indicators. According to the Survey, whereas 64 percent of international investors expect the inflation rate and 53 percent expect interest rates to remain stable in the coming six months, 52 percent expect the exchange rates to run parallel to the inflation rate in 2010.
YASED members enumerated legal framework and its enforcement, unregistered economy, taxes and incentives as obstacles before international investments.
The survey showed the three prior issues the Turkish government should deal with in coming days are unemployment, structural reforms and sustainable growth.
According to the survey, YASED members wanted amendments to the Turkish Commercial Code, Income Tax Law and Regulations on Energy Market.
Founded in 1980, YASED is a non-profit, private sector organization whose members are international companies operating in Turkey. Being the most important representative of the international direct investments in Turkey, YASED members share a common vision and work proactively to promote a better business environment.
