New ISIL video shows previously unseen UK hostage

LONDON

A video posted on the internet late Thursday shows a British man claiming to be held hostage by Islamic State in Iraq and Levant militants.

The "hostage" - wearing orange clothing similar to the jumpsuits worn by detainees in Guantanamo Bay - speaks eloquently to the camera in a British accent for around three minutes, but unlike previous ISIL videos featuring western hostages he is not beheaded.

ISIL has released three videos featuring beheadings, each carried out by another man with a seeming British accent.

In the last, it threatened to kill British aid worker Alan Henning.

In Thursday's video - titled "Lend Me Your Ears" and addressed to the Western public - the man asks why he and others have been abandoned by the U.K. and U.S. governments, when other European governments have negotiated for the release of their hostages.
