Israel's national ambulance service said Tuesday its paramedics had treated nine Israelis from 'minor injuries' sustained from rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into central Israel.

The ambulance service, however, did not clarify the nature of the injuries.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli army said one rocket from Gaza had hit the central Yehud city while the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system intercepted another targeting Tel Aviv.

Mickey Rosenfeld, Israeli police spokesman, tweeted that the rocket fired on Yehud had caused damage, without specifying the nature thereof.

Israeli security forces also announced earlier that one rocket had fallen on the southern city of Ashdod while seven others had been intercepted by the Iron Dome.

Israel says 2060 rockets have been fired from Gaza since the beginning of its military offensive against Gaza, according to a statement on Tuesday.

Two Israelis have been killed by Gaza rocket fire.

Gaza-based resistance factions have continued to fire rockets at Israeli cities in response to the ongoing Israeli assault, which left at least 583 Palestinians – mostly civilians – dead and more than 3550 injured since July 7.

Israel's military operation, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge," is the self-proclaimed Jewish state's third major offensive against the densely-populated Gaza Strip – which is home to some 1.8 million Palestinians – within the last six years.
