Jordanian authorities had released four female members of Libya's Tripoli-based parliament, Libya's Muslim Brotherhood said Sunday.

"The female MPs have arrived in Turkey on the way back to Libya," the Muslim Brotherhood's Justice and Construction Party said on Facebook.

On Saturday, Jordanian authorities detained four female members of the Tripoli-based parliament soon after they arrived in Alia International Airport in Jordanian capital Amman, one of the detained MPs told The Anadolu Agency on the phone.

Magda al-Falah said she and three other female members of the General National Congress were denied entry into Jordan and detained at the airport.

She added that Jordanian authorities did not notify them about the reason why they were denied entry.

She said all detained lawmakers were members of the Muslim Brotherhood's Justice and Construction Party.

"The detained women were part of a Libyan parliamentary delegation participating in a national dialogue workshop organized by the United Nations," al-Falah said.

She added that Jordanian authorities allowed other lawmakers to enter Jordan.

A Jordanian security source, meanwhile, said the authorities were investigating the identification papers of the detained female lawmakers.

On Sunday, Jordanian authorities did not issue a comment on the Brotherhood's Facebook note about the release of the four lawmakers.

The Justice and Construction Party said the four lawmakers went to Jordan to attend a UN-organized conference, marking the International Women's Day.
