Cicek said the establishment of a permanent human rights commission under the OIC was an important step.

ANKARA (AA) - August 28, 2012 - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Tuesday paid a visit to Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek in Ankara, the Turkish capital.

Speaking to reporters after a bilateral meeting with Ihsanoglu, Cicek said the establishment of a permanent human rights commission under the OIC was an important step, adding that Turkey was ready to closely cooperate with the OIC's commission in human rights.
"The commission will be beneficial to raise an awareness in Muslim countries about human rights violations. Turkey is ready to cooperate with you. We have made significant progress in human rights but we still have things to do," Cicek said.
Ihsanoglu on his part said that the establishment of the OIC commission on human rights was "dream come true," adding that an OIC meeting in Ankara on Monday adopted the internal regulations of the commission.
