TURKISH REFINERY TOPS ECONOMY MAGAZINE'S 500 FIRM LIST |
ISTANBUL - An economy magazine put Turkey's oil
refinery at the top of the biggest 500 companies in Turkey.
Turkish Oil Refineries Corporation (Tupras) was ranked the first in the biggest 500 companies in Turkey list of the economy magazine "Fortune" with 20.3 billion Turkish liras-TL (12.8 billion USD) of net sale.
Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation was ranked the second with 19.5 billion TL (12.3 billion USD) net sale, Botas Pipeline and Oil Transportation Corporation came the third with 18.3 billion TL (11.5 billion USD).
The net sales of Fortune 500 companies was down 10 percent in 2009 over 2008 to 353.5 billion TL (223.7 billion USD).
Turkish Airlines (THY) was the company that raised its sales the most last year.
A global business magazine published by Time Inc.'s Fortune|Money Group, Fortune is especially known for its annual features ranking companies by revenue.
