Turkish EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis thanked Britain for its support to Turkey's EU bid.
Bagis held a joint press conference with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in Istanbul on Thursday.
Bagis said that the EU has made a new decision in the recent period.
Turkey, which had opened 13 chapters, had some problems regarding two chapters; 23 and 24, he said. The opening of these two chapters was blocked by the Greek Cypriot administration, Bagis said.
"I hope that the EU would end this double standard as soon as possible," he said.
Bagis said he would like to thank Britain's political parties, governments and people for their assistance to Turkey's EU accession bid.
