Four-day global meeting, sponsored by The Anadolu Agency, will seek to bridge different markets, concerns, and regulatory principles.

AA-sponsored energy forum to focus on common regulation

ANKARA 

A global energy regulation forum, hosted by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, and sponsored by The Anadolu Agency, will be held in Istanbul from May 25 to 28. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's will open the sixth World Forum on Energy Regulation with his speech.

Different approaches to sustainable and lower-cost energy provision will be discussed.

The forum is intended to be a bridge between different markets, concerns and regulatory principles. The forum will include four main subjects for discussion: “Balancing the interests of shareholders,” “Benefiting from innovation,” “Regulation and sustainability,” and “Ways to more rational regulation.”

The forum will also hold high-level discussions on sustainable and reliable energy supply, as well as common approaches to more reasonable and compatible regulatory systems.

The speakers and moderators were selected after 14 months of discussion, and were formally invited by EMRA. With 120 moderators and speakers, the event will have a total of 24 sessions with other topics such as integrating energy networks, universal energy access and the role of the regulator in security of supply.

The forum will also host two special sessions relating to the struggle of energy-poor regions of the world and a G20 session, as energy will be one of the main topics of the G20 agenda in 2015 under the Turkish presidency.
