The views of Turkey's ruling party MP's on the presidential nominations were canvased by filling out a questionaire during a meeting chaired by the Turkish prime minister on Wednesday at the AK Party HQ in Ankara, according to a written statement by party spokesman Huseyin Celik.

MP's were also questioned on their views on the "third term rule", which according to AK party's charter, restricts to three terms the length that AK party members can be voted in as MP's.

These issues will also be discussed during a meeting of provicincal heads of the party to be held in April and the 22nd consultation meeting to be held at the beginning of May.

AK Party MP's interviewed by Anadolu Agency correspondent said they supported Erdogan's bid for presidency. Naci Bostanci (Amasya) and Ekrem Celebi (Agri) predicted Erdogan would win in the first round.

The presidential elections will be held in two rounds, the first of which will be held on August 10 and the second on August 24. The candidate getting 51 percent of the votes in the first round will be directly elected.
