All of the Turkish dailies covered the statement of Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the authorizing of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) during the retreat of terrorist organisation PKK to neighbouring countries. Daily STAR quoted Erdogan saying if the military requests authorization, they would grant it. Erdogan added some of the Syrians in PKK withdrew already and the peace process was progressing very well.
-More rice with GMO detected-
Most of the dailies covered the spreading of "rice with GMO" scandal. Daily AKSAM said "Pick over the GMO from the rice" noting that the rice with GMO scandal spread to two other cities in Turkey. Turkey's Minister of Customs Hayati Yazici said following Mersin, imported rice with GMO were detected in Manisa and Tekirdag too.
-13-year-old got raped by 29 people-
A 13-year-old girl got raped by 29 people, including a petty officer and students, in western Golcuk. Daily Milliyet said with her teacher's efforts a secret investigation was launched and 29 people were taken into custody in charges of having intercourse with the underaged and blackmailing. 8 of them, including the petty officer, were arrested. The girl is under psychological treatment.
-Wise men committee is in charge-
Most dailies covered the first meeting of wise men committee. Daily HURRIYET wrote wise men of East Anatolia, one of the seven regional groups, started the first shift in Malatya province. They met with several NGO representatives. Head of delegation Can Paker said they would present the report they would prepare based on the attendees' views to Ankara.
-Kerry made Turkey next door neighbour-
US Secretary of State John Kerry's upcoming Turkey visit was covered by most dailies. Daily STAR said diplomatic relations with the US was getting faster and Kerry would visit Turkey for the third time in two months. Kerry will arrive in Turkey in two weeks to attend the meeting of "Friends of Syria Group." US Defense Secretary Chuch Hagel is also expected to visit Turkey in April.
-Clashes at Dicle University campus-
Almost all dailies covered the bloody provocation at Dicle University. Daily YENI SAFAK headlined "Who are those with masks on?" Tension at the campus of Dicle University in southeastern Diyarbakir province sparked by a bickering between pro-Hizbullah and pro-PKK student groups continued throughout the week and on Wednesday turned into a serious fight, where seven students were injured, including one whose condition is serious. The university administration suspended all classes until next Monday. People with masks on their faces provoked the groups, witnesses said.
