BAMAKO, Mali

Four people have been killed and 13 others wounded in an attack on a UN base in Mali on Saturday morning.

Unidentified gunmen attacked a UN Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) facility, killing four people including two Guinean peacekeepers and two civilians, according to an anonymous MINUSMA source speaking to Anadolu Agency.

The MINUSMA source told Anadolu Agency that the unidentified assailants also targeted the base – located in the northern district of Kidal – with mortar fire.

However, the source did not give any further details on the identity of the assailants or the victims.

No group has yet claimed responsibility and no official information has been provided by the Malian authorities.

This attack comes just a week after a bloody attack on a Mali hotel, which saw 19 civilians killed in Mali’s capital, Bamako.
