White House believes diplomacy key to ending Syria conflict

Washington

The White House on Tuesday said U.S. President Barack Obama would never rule out the use of military force off in Syria but that they also firmly believe there is not a military solution to the conflict.

“We are constantly looking at options available to make more progress on the humanitarian front and make more progress on the effort to push forward on the Geneva process, the negotiated-settlement process because, again, that’s the only way out of this for the Syrian people and for the future of Syria," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney while speaking to the press.

Carney also said the U.S. is working on the provision of humanitarian aid to Syrian people affected by the conflict.

“We have been working with partners on the United Nations Security Council to move forward on a resolution that would advance that cause, and Russia has been a holdout,” said Carney.
