NBA: Warriors rout Rockets to take 3-0 lead in western finals

ANKARA

Golden State Warriors' superstar Stephen Curry used his outstanding three-point shooting to defeat the Houston Rockets 115-80 and take a three game lead in the NBA Western Conference Finals on Saturday night.

Curry, the NBA's Most Valuable Player, was on fire with seven three-point shots to add to the 40 points he scored as his team paid their first finals visit to the Rockets' Toyota Center.

After a 30-18 first quarter, the Warriors showed no signs of stopping as Curry hit his second three-pointer in the following quarter, breaking the NBA record for most three-pointers in the finals.

Curry added seven assists and five rebounds to his game tally.

Team-mates Draymond Green (17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists), Andrew Bogut (12 points and 12 rebounds) and Klay Thompson (17 points and 5 assists) helped with the scoring.

For the Rockets nothing went planned and they are now a game away from seeing the Warriors advance to the NBA Finals. No NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win the series in the NBA playoffs history.

James Harden scored 17 points while Dwight Howard scored 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

On Sunday night the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Atlanta Hawks at 8.30 p.m. local time (0030GMT) in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavaliers are up 2-0 in the series and the Hawks are without shooting guard Kyle Korver, who is suffering an ankle sprain.
