ISTANBUL

Turkish Super League side Besiktas appealed to the Turkish Football Federation on Thursday for a replay of Sunday’s derby against Fenerbahce on the grounds that there was a rule violation.

Besiktas board member and the club spokesperson Metin Albayrak told The Anadolu Agency that the game’s referee had been "indifferent" to Fenerbahce forward Emmanuel Emenike who took his jersey off after abuse from fans, left the pitch and then returned to play without permission.

Albayrak added that Besiktas had also contacted the football authority’s Ethics Committee because of a half-time outburst by Fenerbahce midfielder Emre Belozoglu regarding Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic. Video of the incident was run on Besiktas’ TV channel earlier this week.

Fenerbahce narrowly won the derby 1-0 against city rivals Besiktas with an injury-time goal at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on Sunday.
