Istanbul side Fenerbahce narrowly lead Turkey’s Super League after Monday’s night games while rival title contenders Besiktas and Galatasaray remain in hot pursuit.

League leaders Fenerbahce cruised past Kasimpasa 3-0 on Saturday. The Yellow Canaries’ 34-year-old Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt scored twice, with the win bringing Fenerbahce’s league points tally to 39.

Archrivals Galatasaray beat Caykur Rizespor 2-0 at the Turk Telekom Arena in Istanbul on Sunday. The Lions finished the job in the first half with Dutch star Wesley Sneijder and Portuguese wunderkind Bruma scoring. Sneijder shone out by scoring one goal and making one assist.

City rivals Besiktas completed the week with a win. The Black Eagles won against Genclerbirligi 2-0 in an away match on Monday night. Besiktas' prolific striker Demba Ba broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, the Senegalese star hitting the target from a free kick. The visitors doubled the margin with attacking midfielder Olcay Sahan's goal in the 77th minute.

Besiktas' Colombian center-back Pedro Franco saw a straight red late in the game.

Current runners-up Besiktas and Galatasaray raised points total to 38 each, narrowly behind Fenerbahce.
