MILAN, Italy

Reigning Italian Serie A champions, Juventus, extended the contracts of their goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and center-back Giorgio Chiellini on Thursday.

According to the statement made on the club's website, 36-year-old Buffon renewed his deal until 2017 while his teammate Chiellini extended his contract to 2018.

Buffon, having played for Juventus for the last 14 seasons, said on Thursday that his greatest dream was to win the UEFA Champions League title.

Vice-captain Chiellini, 30, has been with Juventus since 2005 and said: "It makes me proud to know that, in years to come, when people talk about Gigi (Buffon) and Giorgio (Chiellini), they will think of Juventus."

Juventus chair Andrea Agnelli praised the two players as central to helping the team their promotion back up to Serie A after being relegated to a lower division due to a match-fixing scandal.

He added that they are leaders both on and off the pitch.
